Critically acclaimed solo
artist, Johnny Bhive has joined forces with New York-based musicians Joe Mama Higgins, Ray Schneller, Mikey Bobo and Kato
Peragine. Together they are simply known as “Bhive”.
With OVER 800,000 plays of their songs on MySpace,
first runner up in VH1’s favorite unsigned artist contest, and consistent ranking as the most popular artist of the
month on Playgroundz.net, Bhive is building solid industry buzz. “Bhive’s songs and performances
are delivered with warmth, integrity and a realness that you just don’t see every day. It would not
surprise me if the whole world were singing his tunes one day,” says Harlan Friedman, Program Director of the former
WLIR in New York. Johnny found his way to New York from his hometown of Lafayette, Indiana by
way of L.A. and Las Vegas. He wrote, toured, recorded and honed his craft, making multitudes of devoted
fans along the way, but lacking the magical combination of a band that would elevate his performance instead of merely backing
it. Then one night, in a little club on Long Island, he found the missing pieces. Joe
Mama on bass, Ray on lead guitar, Mikey Bobo on rhythm guitar and Kato on drums, all accomplished musicians in their own right,
had been performing together as “Soulshake” but were looking for more. In Johnny, they found
the charismatic frontman they needed. No longer would the dynamic foursome overshadow their lead singer.
Instead, a balance had finally been struck and the results were pitch perfect.
After a year that began with
an outstanding debut performance at Long Island Rocks for Freedom at Eisenhower Park, the band has been working nonstop.
They wrote and recorded an album that delivers on the potential the band has, and a few songs including “Devil
in a White Dress” and “On the Line” have been receiving regular airplay on several local New York stations.
Bhive performed a club sellout “Hoosier Daddy Tour” in Indiana, and is looking forward to immediately
returning to the road. They'll be heading into Lafayette on June 12 to kick things off!
